On the birthday that I bought myself a Vitamix, a dear friend gave me a little blender cookbook from Williams Sonoma. This recipe came from that little book and has become a staple in our house. I always have some in the fridge. The recipe originally only made a small amount of sauce, enough for one meal, and used it to glazed broiled salmon. It was so good that now I tripled the sauce/glaze recipe so I have enough to use to glaze salmon and tuna, and to pour over a rice/veggie/fish bowl. It is perfect, sweet, salty, and spicy!
Ingredients:
· 1 cup soy sauce
· 6 T honey
· 6 T light brown sugar
· 3 T hoisin sauce
· 3 T Srircha, or to taste
· 3-inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled6 cloves garlic
· Grated rind and juice of one lime
Directions:
1. Combine all ingredients in a blender. Blend, starting at 1 and slowly working up to 10 until ginger and garlic arr pureed, about 30 seconds.
2. Pour the mixture into a sauce pan and simmer over medium high heat, stirring occasionally, until mixture is about reduced in half and thickens slightly
3. Cool and store in the refrigerator.
